Since I have never had one instructor or one team to influence me during my upbringing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I believe I have a different approach to the sport than most others. I have come across thousands of people in my training career, who has all played good and bad roles in shaping my view on Jiu Jitsu, how I would like to experience it myself and pass it on to others. I think BJJ is a beautiful sport, but to me it is primarily a vehicle to live the life I wish to live. A way to create opportunities to see the world, be healthy and meet amazing friends.
I have traveled quite a bit to train, teach and compete. The biggest accomplishment in that category, must have been my five months around-the-world trip in 2011, where I trained in 56 gyms. Read the blog from the trip on www.BJJglobetrotter.com or wait for the book to be published :)
I don't compete much, mostly due to injuries and lack of interest. I have been focusing more on preparing others for competitions and have coached hundreds and hundreds of grappling and MMA matches in my career. I do jump on the mat myself now and then still, mainly for the experience, to push myself and to set a good example for my students.
